Sights & Activities - Arts, Heritage and Culture
The Lochmara Lodge Art Centre is a unique facility where artists from around New Zealand can create and showcase Artwork in a variety of mediums. We offer a range of day trips from Picton to visit the Centre, including options for day walks on the Queen Charlotte Track and lunch in our cafe. The Lodge is also home to the Marlborough Sounds Wildlife Recovery Centre.
A minimum of 10% of sales go directly towards the Eco Artists New Zealand Trust, a charitable trust which sponsors national conservation projects working with endangered species and their habitat.
A minimum of 5% of sales go directly towards the Marlborough Sounds Wildlife Recovery Trust, a trust which funds all conservation work on The Lochmara Lodge property.
Sculpture Trail
The property has an 11-acre sculpture trail which we call a living gallery. It encompasses sculpture in a variety of mediums from living trees to stone, wood and mixed media. There is literally art to be found in every nook and cranny.
Art Gallery
We have two indoor galleries, as well as paintings located in guest rooms. The indoor galleries showcase various forms of paintings, sculpture, carving and weaving.
Resident Artists
Throughout the season Lochmara Lodge invites artists for residency opportunities. Artists can live and work at Lochmara Lodge creating artwork in a variety of mediums.
Workshops and Events
Throughout the year Lochmara Lodge Arts Centre holds various events for professional artists and the general public such as symposiums, retreats, exhibitions and workshops.
